Single-root endodontic treatment

Single-root endodontic treatment

Root canal therapy for a tooth with a single root.

Single-root endodontic treatment — root canal therapy — removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth with one root, such as a front tooth or premolar. The goal is to eliminate pain and save the natural tooth rather than extract it.

Infection inside the pulp can cause severe toothache, sensitivity, and swelling. By cleaning, shaping, and sealing the root canal system, we remove the source of infection and allow the tooth to heal.

What to expect

Local anaesthesia keeps you comfortable throughout. The procedure is usually completed in one or two visits. After the canal is cleaned and filled, the tooth may receive a filling or crown to restore strength and protect it from fracture.

Who is it for

Root canal treatment is indicated when the pulp is irreversibly damaged by deep decay, trauma, or repeated dental procedures. Saving the tooth preserves your natural bite and avoids the need for extraction and replacement.

After your treatment

Mild soreness for a few days is normal. Avoid chewing on the treated tooth until it is fully restored with a permanent filling or crown. Good oral hygiene helps prevent future problems.
