Denture relining

Denture relining

Renewing the inner surface of a denture for improved stability.

Denture relining renews the inner surface of a denture that no longer fits snugly against the gums. Over time, the jawbone and gum tissues change shape, causing looseness, sore spots, and reduced chewing efficiency.

Relining adds new material to the fitting surface of the existing denture base, improving stability without replacing the entire prosthesis. It is a practical solution when the teeth and overall structure of the denture are still in good condition.

What to expect

An impression of your gums is taken with the denture in place or using a separate mould. The laboratory processes the reline, and you return for a fitting appointment. Soft relines offer immediate comfort; hard relines provide longer-lasting results.

Who is it for

Relining is recommended when your denture feels loose, rocks during eating, or causes irritation despite being otherwise intact. It is not suitable if the denture is badly worn, cracked, or if significant tooth replacement is needed.

After your treatment

Allow a short adjustment period as you adapt to the improved fit. Clean your denture daily and remove it at night unless advised otherwise. Schedule regular check-ups so we can monitor fit and oral tissue health.
