Implant graft

Implant graft

Bone grafting to prepare the jaw for a secure implant.

Implant grafting — bone grafting — adds volume and density to the jaw where bone has been lost, creating a solid foundation for a future dental implant. Grafted material may come from a donor source or synthetic substitutes, depending on clinical needs.

After tooth extraction or long-term absence of a tooth, the jawbone can shrink. Without sufficient bone, an implant cannot be placed securely. Grafting rebuilds the site so the implant can integrate properly and support long-term function.

What to expect

Imaging helps us measure bone height and width at the implant site. The graft is placed during a minor surgical procedure, often at the same time as extraction or as a separate preparatory step. Healing typically takes several months before implant placement.

Who is it for

Bone grafting is recommended when imaging shows inadequate bone for safe implant placement. It is a common preparatory step and does not mean implant treatment is impossible — it simply ensures the best possible outcome.

After your treatment

Follow post-operative instructions carefully, including diet modifications and oral hygiene around the graft site. We will monitor healing and confirm when the area is ready for the next stage of implant treatment.
